January 28, 1930 - named Commander of the 1st Divizion Reconnaissance Squadron (formerly the Artillery Spotting Unit)
It has been suggested that Kaneps was not a particularly good pilot, but his leadership/administrative skills were strong.
August 30 - Sept. 7, 1930 - participates in the goodwill flight around Europe, flying as observer in Letov 57K, piloted by 1st.Lt. Pagrods.
April 30, 1931 - makes a successful parachute jump at Riga/Spilve, jumping from a height of about 400m.
September 15, 1931 - Named commander of the 7th long-range Recon Squadron
December 15, 1931 - Trades commands with Veinbergs, leaving 7th Recon to command 1 Divizions Recon Section
June 5, 1932 - participates in the Aviation Festival at Riga/Spilve.
June 14, 1934 - propeller damage incident on takeoff in DH9A #67.
May 14, 1935 - Replaced by Munters as Commander of the 1st Divizion Recon Squadron
September 8, 1935 - participates in the Aviation Festival at Riga/Spilve.
November 5, 1937 - records show a Sgt.Kaneps being a passenger in the crash landing of SV-5 #109. It is unlikely
that this is the same Kaneps, but could be an error in recording the rank.
1942 - 1945 (German Occupation) - served in the Latvia Legion (part of German army), fighting the Soviets.
At the end of the war he was in Germany.
1952 - emigrated to the USA, first to New York City and, later, to Milwaukee.
