The Do-22 first flew in 1935. The aircraft was designed for the export market, and sales agreements were reached
with Yugoslavia, Greece and Latvia. The four aircraft destined for Latvia (designated Do-22K1) were built in Friedrichshafen but
not delivered before the Soviet occupation, and these aircraft were eventually sold to Finland instead.
