• In January 1934 the Fokker offices received an enquiry from the Latvian military, as their records show prices and particulars quoted:
  • Export Dept. to Design Bureau 3. Jan 1934. Urgent quotation to Letland required for 2 C.8W with Gn. & Rh. 14 Kbrs (aircooled radial).
  • January 27 - the price was calculated.
  • Armament one fixed machine gun, one on Vickers gun ring no.7.
  • 2 C.8W at ƒ 39.200 apiece, Office costs (drawings, calculations etc.) ƒ 3.500.
  • Total weight 3000 kg.
  • 4-bladed prop Ø 3,20 m.
  • Engine gearing (reduction) 5/7.
  • First a/c should be performance tested, no seaworthyness test required. 2nd a/c should just be test flown.
  • Price is without crating, delivered at seaplane base (Fokker, Navy) Schellingwoude, Amsterdam. The planes to be flown to Latvia from there.
  • Purchaser supplies: motors with generator, carburetor, propeller hub, magnetoes, cylinder thermometer, Viët starter, fuel pumps etc. machine guns with synchronisation gear, gun sights, radio.
• At the time this 3-seat type was being built for the RNeth.Navy, but with the Lorraine Dietrich in-line engine. Later the Pegasus U2 was requested.
• The Fokker C.8W is the seaplane version - image above depicts the land variant.
• The C.8W may have been under consideration during the selection which resulted in the purchase of Fairey Seals.
