NOTES

• The Renard R.32 (built in 1936) was a further development of the Renard R.31. Two prototypes were built - the first with a 12-cylinder Hispano Suiza engine, and the second (pictured above) with a Gnome et Rhone 14NO1. These aircraft attracted no foreign buyers and, when the 14NO1-powered aircraft crashed while being delivered to the Belgian Air Force, development of this model came to an end.
• Beginning in December 1936 the Latvians began looking for a more modern trainer, suitable for preparing pilots for the Gloster Gladiator while still being capable of being used for reconnaissance.
• While the Renard was one of about six aircraft considered for the role, the decision was made on Feb.9, 1937 to purchase the Hawker Hind.
