April 12, 1923 - J.Basko visits the Ansaldo factory in Italy to consider purchase
of new aircraft.
The SVA10s (along with the first four Balillas) were received on Aug.6, 1923.
Only four aircraft were purchased. One addition aircraft (#33) was constructed in
the aviation division's workshops. The other four serial numbers are the result of
a renumbering of the original four.
The Italian aircraft were phased out in the early 1930s, being replaced by the
Gladiators, Hinds and SV-5s.

Initially, when the SVA-10s were purchased, this was the only one designated for
general use. The others were to be kept in top condition with only selected pilots
permitted to fly them. The pilots thus designated were P.Mardoks, K.Skaubitis, A.Dzenitis,
J.Putnins and A.Jakobsons. These restrictions were in place only until Sept.7, 1923, when
all the SVA-10s were made available for general use.
