On Back: Back Photo Studio: J.Falkova, Ludza Other Information: This member of the Latvian Aero Club wears a number of distinctive badges. The large disc worn around his neck states that he is the "Pagasts Vecakais", which literally translates as 'municipal elder' - essentially, the mayor. Below the LAK badge is the "Aizsargi" badge, and below that is the badge of the 5th Cesis Infantry. It would appear that he is retired from the active military, retains a role with the 3rd unit of the National Guard, and is also the local mayor. [G.D.Zulis Collection] |
